I am the children’s librarian for the Washington County Library System, serving the rural libraries of Elkins, Farmington, Prairie Grove, Lincoln, West Fork, Greenland and Winslow.  As you are probably aware, Arkansas libraries are focusing on creative arts for the summer reading programming.  I am hoping you will be able to suggest some individuals (possibly graduate students?)  I might contact who would be willing to volunteer to come to one of our libraries this summer to talk with elementary and middle school students about their interest in art and techniques they use in doing their work.

Arkansas native and “The South’s Premier Artist” Christopher Youngstar is having an exhibition entitled “Art of an Artist” in Little Rock at Gallery B studio, 900 S. Rodney Parham Rd., May 15 - 17.  We are in search of college students who have good personalities, positive attitudes, a love for fine arts, willing to work hard and learn from one of the best artists in America.  If you know any students that fit that description and those you know would be interested, could you have them send us their resume with their availability?  The Opening reception is Friday May 15th 6 pm to 9 pm. The exhibit continues Saturday May 16th, 5 pm to 8 pm and Sunday May 17th, 1 pm to 4 pm.
