Projects
Here is a cursory list of some of the projects that may or may not be tackled in this course. For a detailed description of each project, log into WebCT and download the PDF project sheet.
One-Time Project: Second Life Andidate Convention
Your “andidate” from Project 1 should begin campaigning in Second Life. On the University of Arkansas island in Second Life, in the Art Department’s piece of the island, you should create your “booth” and some representation of your andidate.
One-Time Project: The Best Andidate
Using Flash, create an animated logo and slogan for the first android/robot candidate for 2048 President of the United States. Your “andidate” should begin campaigning in Second Life.
Project: OneThruTen
Create a grid-based Flash movie using the numbers “1” through “10” and your own photographs of a topic. Clicking on a number and it’s square should show a photograph containing that number of objects (clicking “6” will show a photograph of 6 tires or 6 monkeys) in that grid cell (or multiple).
Project: Interactive Infographic
Using Flash, create an animated/interactive informational visualization of a situation in current events.
Project: Interactive Literature
Create an interactive piece involving poetry or similar creative writing, photography and vector art. (a la “Born Magazine”)
Project: Form reduction and interaction
With a normal, everyday object, reduce it to the following graphical and multimedia forms: digitize (photo), line/shape (vector), video, audio, print manipulation, hand-made.
Project: Texture, Motion and Layering
Create an interactive Flash experience that explores layering and juxtaposition of video and text. Allow the user to find and create new meaning in matching and layering the clips. Choose a topic such as “light,” “skeletal,” “moldy” or “purple.”
Project: Flash Portfolio
Create a portfolio showcasing your work in this class, using both used and unused elements from Projects 1 through 4. It should include drag/drop functionality, dynamic loading of all content elements and utilize preloaders.
