I was born in St. Francis, Kansas, in my grandparents' farmhouse in December 1945. My parents moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 1948, where I grew up and where they still live. I went to undergraduate school in Pueblo at Southern Colorado State College, where I had the opportunity to work with a wonderful painter by the name of Orlin Helgoe. My daughter Elizabeth was born in April 1968 and I graduated with a BA in painting and drawing the same year. I then attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I worked primarily with Roland Reiss a very talented and energetic artist and teacher. My son Ezra was born in 1970 and I graduated with my MFA in 1971.
