The Visual Resource Center is located on the second floor of the Fine Arts Center in Room 215. Regular hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:30. If, for any reason, the hours must change, they will be posted on the door.

At present, our collection consists of approximately 100,000 35mm slides and 150 VHS videos. These are all available for check out by Art Department faculty, staff, and students. Faculty, staff, and students from other departments within the University of Arkansas community may also check them out for a maximum of 48 hours.

Currently there are five SONY digital cameras, three Canon mini-DV video cameras and one 8mm camcorder for check-out by Art students, faculty, and staff. We also have a copy stand equipped with tungsten balanced lights tungsten balanced studio lights, one 35mm Minolta SLR camera, and tripod for use in photographing original works.

Equipment for classroom use includes six 35mm slide projectors, TV/VCR/DVD combo on an AV cart, 2 digital projectors on carts, and one laptop computer.

We also have the equipment for producing 35mm slides from digital images, scanning 35mm slides, negatives, and larger transparencies up to 5" X 7".

Some of our more interesting items include 5,000 glass lantern slides and a working lantern slide projector. Some of the lantern slides show Art students and their work from the 1940s.
