Applying for the BFA

University of Arkansas School of Art, offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in  Art Education, Graphic Design and Studio Art. Below are the application requirements for each area. 

 

Art Education


Applications into the program are available during fall or spring semester and will be available soon on SlideRoom.

All applications must be submitted electronically on SlideRoom. Please review ll requirements needed before starting your application.

Application Materials Needed:

University GPA must be 2.5 or greater; School of Art GPA must be 3.0 or greater
Unofficial transcript in PDF format from UAConnect. Upload to SlideRoom.
Page 2 of the application packet - digitally completed or hand printed and scanned. Upload to SlideRoom.

10-15 high quality images

  • professional quality documentation, photographs, scans, or videos
  • images/stills file size up to 5 MB each, video file size up to 250 MB each
  • image information: title, date, medium, course number, course name, and course instructor 
The art education faculty will conduct a brief interview with the applicants. The art education program will contact the applicants to schedule a virtual interview after the application deadline.

Graphic Design


Each year, the application for the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design will be made available through Slideroom in February. 

To complete the application, students will upload:

  • Unofficial course transcript from UA Connect demonstrating a 3.0+ GPA
  • Two written statements
  • Porfolio of 5 pieces of work from School of Art Foundation courses
  • One new design project based on a provided creative prompt
  • A late-model Macbook Pro with an AppleCare or Safeware warranty (all of which can be purchased at the University of Arkansas Tech Store), and monthly student subscription to the Adobe software.

Transfer students can apply to the program by completing the same application linked above. If a transfer student has not taken Foundations courses in the School of Art, they should upload a portfolio of work from the equivalent courses completed at their previous institution.

For questions about transfer credits, students should contact the Art Academic Advisor, Jessica E. Park. Students can receive additional advising support through the Fulbright College Advising Center.

 
 

Studio Art
